1623 Theatre Company and Derby Museums present – Queer Folio 2023 Scratch Night.

You, yes you – you’re invited to a super sassy sharing of exciting new works in progress by a dazzling team of LGBTQ+ artists from across the Midlands.

Join us for a sneaky preview of three gorgeous new acts that reconnect Shakespeare’s plays with their queerness after four centuries of far too much straightening out.

  • Bed of Roses – an epic queer soap opera by writer Dave Payne (adapted from Henry VI and Richard III)
  • Untitled – a beautiful piece of queer spoken word by poet Aoife O’Connor (based on King John)
  • A Knife to My Heart – a fabulous Eurovision-style song by composer Aron Snood (inspired by Julius Caesar)

Part of the Queer Folio project – a national celebration of LGBTQ+ creativity in response to the First Folio – Shakespeare’s complete(ish) works – first published 400 years ago this year.

Find out more at #QueerFolio. Supported by Arts Council England.

FREE – Give What You Think. Donations welcome.
