International Women’s Day: Open Mic Night

08/03/2024, 7.30pm
Join us as we creatively express to de-stress and un-oppress on International Women’s Day. MC Rebecca Muir of BexStar Entertainment Productions will programme and present powerful poetry, spoken word, music, dance, and comedy, plus songs of protest and affirmation from the Rebel Women’s Choir.

Supporters of all genders are welcome to cheer on those taking the mic to amplify the voices of women, girls and non-binary siblings rising in resistance to misogyny as #DerbySpeaksUp. There will be some open mic slots available to sign up on the night. Whether you are a seasoned performer or coming forward for the first time, this annual event is always an inclusive and supportive space with uplifting intersectional feminism vibes and an unforgettably liberating atmosphere  #IWD2024

Accompanied children are welcome to attend free of charge; more mature themes will be scheduled after 9pm (you know your kids best) and those taking the mic are asked to give any necessary care / trigger notices. Tickets are offered on a pay-what-you-can basis and all proceeds raised will support International Women’s Day Derby; for anyone unable to pay there are some free solidarity tickets available, please e-mailwomensdayinderby@gmail.com
