Profile

Are you a teacher looking for new, engaging ways to enhance your ancient Egyptian Civilisation teaching? We would like to invite all educators to a CPD (continuous professional development) evening at the Museum and Art Gallery.

Derby Museums, in partnership with The Bemrose School Primary Phase’s History Lead, Tom Corrigan, bring you a valuable opportunity to enhance your ancient Egyptian Civilisation teaching  at Key Stage 2.

With an exclusive tour of our exhibition Displaced: From the Nile to the Derwent, you will learn recent research about our Egyptology collection, including our two mummified human remains, and be able to have time to update your school’s curriculum, exploring how Derby, Derbyshire and Egypt are so linked over time.

Our facilitator and Egypt specialist Emma Collett will be on hand to help with broad subject knowledge and ethical conversations of why these objects are here and how they travelled all the way from North Africa.

We also welcome your input too. We would like you to tell us what is important for your teaching and learning of ancient Egypt, helping us to shape the new permanent display of our Egypt collection and our school session, to match your needs in the future!

We look forward to welcoming you!
