Grab your smartphones and get ready for an extraordinary adventure with the Dino World Trail! This augmented reality (AR) event invites participants to explore Derby city centre and discover hidden dinosaurs in a thrilling scavenger hunt.
Organised by the Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID), the Dino World Trail encourages both families and solo adventurers to seek out special QR codes displayed in the windows of shops, restaurants, and other businesses in the Cathedral Quarter.
This free immersive event is available now until Sunday, 8th September and follows the hugely successful Jurassic Day event in July.
By scanning these QR codes, aspiring dinosaur collectors can hatch virtual dinosaur eggs, bringing these prehistoric creatures to life through the magic of AR. Each of the ten locations around the city houses a unique dinosaur egg, waiting to be discovered and hatched.
Participants who collect all ten dinosaur eggs will earn a variety of prizes, including a digital puzzle pack and the ability to take AR selfies with each collected dinosaur.
Eve Taylor, BID Project Executive for Derby Cathedral Quarter, commented: “We are delighted to be hosting Derby’s very own Dino Trail and know that families will enjoy the chance to collect each unique dinosaur.
“Free events like this are great for attracting more people to the city centre and helping them to discover more of the Cathedral Quarter’s fantastic independent businesses.”
A map of all the QR code locations can be found on the Dino World Trail app, and for those who prefer to plan ahead, a detailed list is also available on the Derby Cathedral Quarter website at derbycathedralquarter.co.uk.
