Businesses urged to take part in ‘Improving Air Quality in Derby’ consultation

Derby City Council have launched a consultation process looking into getting the views of the public on improving air quality in the city.

The Government has asked that Derby introduce measures to reduce roadside nitrogen dioxide levels as soon as possible and Derby City Council are working with the Government to develop a feasibility study on how this is tackled.

As part of the consultation exercise three options have been put forward for discussion. These are:

Option 1 – The Introduction of traffic management measures (this is the preferred option of the current administration)

Option 2 – The Introduction of a ‘Chargeable Clean Air Zone’ within inner ring road

Option 3 – The Introduction of a ‘Chargeable Clean Air Zone’ within outer ring road

 

Options 2 & 3 would result in the most polluting vehicles having to pay to drive in specified areas of the city.

All businesses are urged to complete the survey and to feed back their views on the three options. Deadline for submissions is midnight on 24 September 2018.
