Brigdens New Flag ship store at the top of Iron Gate has opened after significant refurbishment to one of Derby’s historic buildings. The new Brigdens store offers combined formal and casual wear under one roof and will enable a greater integration of smart casual wear alongside traditional tailoring and ladies and gentlemen’s Country wear. The Cathedral Quarter has seen little investment over the last 5 years and the new Brigdens store represents a significant re-investment in the area.

“We are very proud to be part of Derby’s history said Managing Director Nigel Sutherland, our business has had a presence in the area for over a century in many disguises and although the area has seen a decline in recent years we hope the positive investment to the Cathedral Quarter will see a resurgence in interest for this important part of Derby. We are continuing to work with key people in the community and want to help restore the town centre to some of its former glory.”

The new store will continue to focus on tailoring and special occasion wear but will also give us the opportunity to focus on smart casual wear which was always difficult with products split across 2 stores.

Although the internet has seen a move away from traditional retailing for many retailers, our customers continue to support us and constantly remind us that clothing purchase on line can be difficult. Our own online sales continue to grow and the new focus of our own tailoring alongside British cloths is delivering a quality garment that we believe is unsurpassed in the present market.

The new store also combines a workshop on the 2nd floor where alterations to garments are carried out using the very latest machinery.
