Through a passage of movement incorporating walking and dancing Alison Lloyd has documented elements of her life since 1976. In The Dark Peak, many of Lloyd’s photographs show her crouching, in a sheltered spot. She is sometimes in a hollow, or between walls. They represent private moments of her encounter with nature.
Her photographs connect walking as an artistic process with an intuitive and personal exploration of 15 square kilometers of remote moorland in the Dark Peak. The Dark Peak is the name given to the Ordinance Survey map for the Northern section of the Peak District National Park.
Alison is currently completing a practice-led PhD on women, walking and art at Loughborough University, School of the Arts, English and Drama.
Exhibition Launch: Thursday 31 October 6.30 – 8pm
