Rainbows Hospice Charity Abseil

Calling all daredevils and those with a head for heights, join Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People at Derby Cathedral as our charity abseil returns in October 2024.

For one day only, you’ll have the chance to climb the 189 steps to the top of the cathedral’s tower in support of Rainbows. Here you’ll be harnessed up, before climbing over the edge and abseiling the 212ft back down – you’re bound to feel an adrenaline rush afterwards!

This challenge will give you spectacular views across Derby as you stand at the top of the tower, the chance to see the clock-face up close as you abseil down, while every penny you raise in sponsorship will help make magical memories for local children and young people with life-limiting conditions.

How to sign up?

With abseiling slots available between 8am and 5pm, taking part in our Derby Cathedral Abseil couldn’t be easier. Simply visit click here hit the “Book Now” button, follow the steps and pay your £20 registration fee, which helps support Rainbows’ vital work in Derby and across the East Midlands.

This event always proves popular with children and adults alike, so be quick – you won’t want to miss out!

Fundraising for Rainbows:

All participants taking part in the Derby Cathedral Abseil are asked to pay a £20 registration costs when signing up, and pledge to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship (excluding Gift Aid).

By raising the £100 in sponsorship, you could help fund two-hours of Music Therapy at the hospice. As many children supported by Rainbows don’t have the language skills they need to express their emotions or may not find it easy to talk about their feelings, music therapy provides an ideal space in which to express themselves.

If you go that one step further with your fundraising, and raise £260, you could help fund five hours of vital nursing care at Rainbows, while smashing the sponsorship target and raising £300 could fund a day’s worth of housekeeping costs, helping to keep children and young people free from infection.
